CORRECT IS THIS IT LYRICS
The Is This It lyrics on the official website have been incorrect in several places since the website redesign a year ago. Here are what the lyrics used to be published as on the old website, copied exactly down to the punctuation and line breaks, which I take as official.
Anonymous asked: What about the myth that says that the legs in the UK ITI cover are from Albert?
Um…that’s just a big fat lie. A) it’s obviously a woman, B) there’s a story behind it:
the model explains that the photoshoot was spontaneous, and happened after she came out of the shower of photographer Colin Lane, her then boyfriend, naked.
“I walked out of the shower and I was completely naked,” she recalls. “I was walking around the house – he was like, put this glove on. I walked over, boom, that was the shot.”

This album.
I could go months without listening to The Strokes and still be able to recite every single lyric and guitar solo. Thank you guys for being rad and making me a cool tween back in the day.
Anonymous asked: Is it hard to find the original edition of "Is This It" on CD? With the ass cover? Or did The Strokes sell a lot of copies when it was still available?
The cover with the ass is still sold as the main album cover in countries other than the US (and I think some Latin American countries)—try websites like amazon.co.uk, HMV.com, or play.com. As for original editions…I’m not sure how easy it is to find a CD that was actually manufactured back in 2001, or how easy it is to tell if the CD you’re buying was manufactured in 2001 vs. any time sooner, but I will tell you that I purchased an “ass” cover in England in 2010 to complete my collection, so it’s definitely still possible to find, I just don’t know if it’s necessarily going to be one made in 2001.

Most people think it’s “my ex,” yeah, but the original lyrics on the website always had it as “Maya,” so that’s what I choose to believe the right lyrics are. The current website has it as “my ex,” however, but a lot of the ITI lyrics are screwed up there, so I don’t think they’re trustworthy at all.
As for who Maya is—no idea. On ITI, there’s a Maya, a Lisa, and a Nina, and no one knows who any of them are. I think they could have been friends or exes, but I think it’s more likely that they’re just made-up names, applying to real people or made-up ones.

Anonymous asked: were can i find the lyrics to Someday? Their's different versions everywhere and I really want to know the official ones.
Official ones according to the current website are here. However, the ITI lyrics on the CURRENT official site are not to be fully trusted, as they differ from the ITI lyrics they had up on the official site for years prior. This is what they USED to be:
In many ways, they’ll miss the good old days
Someday, someday
Yeah it hurts to say, but I want you to stay
Sometimes, sometimes
When we was young, oh man did we have fun
Always, always
Promises, they break before they’re made
Sometimes, sometimesOh, Maya says I’m lacking in depth.
I will do my best.
You say you want to stay by my side
Darling your head’s not right
See, alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I’ll be all right
I’m working so I wont have to try so hard
Tables they turn sometimes.Oh, someday
No, I ain’t wasting no more time.Trying, trying
And now my fears, they come to me in threes
So I,
Sometimes
Say: “Fate, my friend,
You say the strangest things
I find, sometimes.”Oh, Maya says I’m lacking in depth
Shit, I will try my best
You say you want to stay by my side
Darling ,your head’s not right
See, alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah. I think I’ll be all right
I’m working so I wont have to try so hard
Tables they turn sometimes
Oh someday
I ain’t wasting no more time.
I trust the old official versions, personally.

youdonthavetobesmartallofthetim asked: In "Hard to Explain," what are the correct lyrics after "Oh man, can't you see..." On one website, it says "I'm nervous, so please..." and on another it says "I'm ever so pleased..." It's bugging me!! I have to know!! :)
The official website really can’t be trusted for reliable lyrics on ITI anymore, unfortunately. I take the ITI lyrics that were on the FORMER website to be the correct ones, and according to that, it’s “ever so pleased.” I think whoever did them for the newest website just got them off MetroLyrics or something.
