I’m personally haven’t ever “connected” with them, but not in the sense that I don’t like them—I think AM are a great band, I just prefer The Strokes. I think The Strokes are more melodic and catchy, which attracts me, but Alex Turner has some amazing lyrics, and that band writes some great songs. I’m actually seeing them for the first time in March and I’m really excited.

However, I think a lot of bands go hand in hand with other bands for a lot of fans: a lot of Strokes fans also seem to like Arctic Monkeys and The Horrors, for example (not everyone, of course). I’m also a huge Coldplay fan and it seems like most Coldplay fans also really like Radiohead OR Muse (rarely both).
