awesomecrow asked: It wasn't 10 years ago but 4 years ago when I first heard 'Someday'. Although it had already been 6 years since it's first release, it still reasonated with me. The next day,I bought my first copy of ITI and played it repeatedly over the weekend. I loved every track off the album. The catchy riffs, the jangly rock and most of all, it had soul. The Strokes made me realize there...

durene-deactivated20130321 asked: I first found out about The Strokes in late 2007, during middle school, when I was just getting into indie rock. I had become a big Arctic Monkeys fan, and found their cover of "Take it or Leave it" on youtube. The video linked to the original version, of The Strokes playing MTV's $2 concert. At first I felt sad, because I thought they were an old 70s band because of the...
Anonymous asked: My sister and I used to fight a lot, about everything, all the time. I remember listening to Is This It for the first time with her, and it was finally something we could agree on.

winkychrist asked: We were playing blackjack at the House of Blues in Las Vegas during that tour together. I lost everything I had but 40 bucks. I asked Jules to play with it cause it seemed to be their lucky year. Surely enough, he won me all my money back. God bless his soul. God, I miss 2001
winkychrist asked: Julian won me 240 dollars in Vegas during that tour. I thank him still to this day
Anonymous asked: I remember the first time I heard 'Someday', and it blew my mind. I stopped whatever it was I was doing (reading, I think), and listened to it again. And again. And again. Two years later, I was sitting in Hyde Park in London with a group of friends, when a group of girls sat near us, and one of them starting singing Someday. I started singing along until she looked over and smiled. Two...
Anonymous asked: when i first bought 'is this it' on CD, i sat on the bus home studying my recent purchase- carefully reading every thank you and casually hyperventilating over the pictures. this album completely kicked my previous music taste's ass, and i don't say this about a lot of bands/albums, but that record changed my life. happy 10 year anniversary! :D

Anonymous asked: Here's my Is This It story: After it first came out my sister gave me the CD and I played it in the car...I didn't have that far to drive...but I kept driving so I could listen to the entire album. I couldn't get enough of it then, and I can't get enough of it now. Happy 10 year birthday Is This It!!! Cheers to The Stokes!

Happy 10th Birthday, Is This It!
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Is This It’s Australian release (which is July 30, today/tomorrow depending on your time zone), please send us your stories and memories of the album that started it all! I think we’ll probably do this again for the UK release (August 27) and US release (October 9), so don’t worry if you miss it this time, but let’s start...

lin-style asked: Going off of those shirt-related asks, do you know of any place where I could get the Room on Fire tour conductor shirts? I can't post a link, but I saw it at the bottom of an article Opening Ceremony did on Warren Fu and immediately loved it.
ice-skin-deactivated20111220 asked: I bought my Strokes T-shirt at a CD shop, I saw a really cool one in Urban Outfitters too but it was very overpriced.

lets-have-awkward-sex asked: This is some advice for anyone ever looking to buy a Strokes shirt. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use eBay. I got a shirt from there and in the picture it looked like the real thing but was a total and cheap ripoff that looked nothing like the real one. I was very disappointed. Luckily I have gotten the real deal now :)
